This is the fifth Rosé made from Green Gate vineyard in Edna Valley. This soil can be challenging for a traditional Pinot Noir due to the mineral edge it gives this wine. However, in a Rosé, this same mineral edge is desirable to balance out all the lush fruit character in the wine. It is all Pinot Noir clone 777 grown on serpentine and chert, the precursor to slate. The resulting wine illustrates this clearly. The wine is both edgy and rich.
Not only is the wine easy to drink like a Rosé should be, but it pairs well with food. Enjoy this wine with Spring vegetables, cedar plank salmon, or roast chicken.
