The practices at Deer Meadows are organic, which Suelo Farmers feel is necessary when talking about balance in the soil and in wine. Rich Savoy began farming grapes at Deer Meadows Vineyard in the 1980s.
The site is located on a ridge at the top of Anderson Valley at 1600’-1800’ on a deep bed of shale and sandstone. The terrain is undulating with varying degrees of slope and wildly different exposures; Suelo Farmers sources from a section that is mainly south facing.
