About the Wine

Landmark Vineyards and Rochioli Vineyards & Winery teamed up to create a rare blend of Pinot Noir from their adjacent properties on Westside Road in the Russian River Valley. For the first time, Landmark and Rochioli have blended two single vineyards, which were once part of the historic Walters Ranch in the Russian River Valley.

In making just 10 cases of this rare wine, the selection highlights Landmark’s Hop Kiln Estate vineyard Block 10, a small, well-drained gravel hill that rises above the river plain in the old North Bridge section of the former Walters Ranch. Block 10 was planted to the Pommard Clone in 2006. Rochioli’s exceptional Little Hill Vineyard has limited, yet rocky soils, and it was planted to a Pommard selection in 2005. It yields only 1.8 tons per acre. When the two blocks are combined, the result is a rare blend with never before, never again characteristics.

The Walters Ranch Pinot Noir lot offers a combination of blackberries, pie cherries, rose petals and chocolate aromas that expand on the palate. Its full flavors and firm structure make this wine a great one to cellar. The fruit for this wine underwent 10% whole cluster fermentation and was aged in 50% new French oak barrels.

100% Pinot Noir from Hop Kiln Estate 50%, Little Hill Vineyard 50%
