On the nose the wine is lightly nutty, peppery, spicy and tarry scent of ripe black and red berries with a little undergrowth, dried herbs, tobacco and licorice. On the palate, it is ripe, firm, tart fruit, nutty, slightly woody with tobacco aromas, and again shows a hint of peppery spice. There is a presence of fine sandy tannins, some bite, and the wine is persistent and full-bodied, very good with a tart slightly salty finish.
