The 2019 Grenache has a garnet-purple color of moderate depth. This vintage brings a floral perfume to a medley of ripe red fruits; red raspberry, cherry and strawberry. Since we limit the time this wine spends in oak to just over six months the bouquet seeds center stage to the wine’s luscious fruit aromas. With time in the glass delicate nuances of almond paste, buttered toast and milk chocolate emerge and make a cameo appearance. On the palate this wine has a savory fruit character that is tantalizingly close to sweet. Toasty oak adds a creamy texture to the rich flavors of cherry and raspberry. The tannins are so soft as to be non-existent. The finish features toasty oak that lingers well. This is a deliciously soft supple wine. In addition to being a wonderful summertime red, this Grenache would be a perfect introduction for a friend or family member curious about the world of red wine.
