This is the second release of the Hunt & Harvest Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, which came into being after a long-time friend offered us fruit from one of his sought-after vineyards in the Red Hills just outside of Dundee, Oregon.
The nose is an enticing mélange of dark cherry and raspberry fruit with an earthy edge and Chinese five spice. The palate strikes a fine balance between the fruit weight and a delicate acid and tannin structure. The finish is long with sweet oak and fresh berry fruits.
You will want to make something a little more special with this wine.Be sure to decant the wine within the first few years of drinking it. Grilled squab with berries and a succotash of roasted corn and bacon will match perfectly.
