This barrel selection was sourced entirely from the oldest vines at Elk Cove's Five Mountain Vineyard. Planted in 1978 by the Ponzi family on Laurelwood soils to own-rooted Pommard clonal material, this block sits at 500 feet elevation and faces southeast with a view of five Cascade peaks. Elk Cove acquired Five Mountain in 2005, choosing it for its beauty as well as the earthy tones, dark fruit and peppery spice of its Pinot noirs.
