This "classic" vintage is full-bodied and rich, but perfectly poised and balanced out by a mouthwatering acidity. There is plenty of ripe fruit (pear, quince) on the nose, but rather than being overtly fruity the wine is marked by a complex minerality. As such it makes an excellent complement to soft cheeses, as well as many summery dishes (caprese salad comes to mind).
