About the Wine

The grapes for OPR Sauvignon Blanc are 100% from the Lodi appellation. The soils there are diverse ranging from heavier clay-based along the eastern edge to well-drained stony soils in the north. This lends the grape amazing characteristics that we found fascinating.

The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc is “grassy” in style with bright citrus and green apple flavors along with traces of melon and ripe apricot aromas. The body is lean and focused, with low alcohol, finishing with refreshingly high notes of acidity and minerality. The wine was slowly fermented at a cold temperature to preserve more of the aromatics and acidity as well as achieve a fuller and viscous body. The wine was aged sur lie (on the lees) for five months for additional complexity and a richer mouthfeel. No oak was used during the aging process giving it additional vibrancy. Cheers!
