About the Wine

The Pride family has been handcrafting wines from their estate at the crest of the Mayacamas Mountains since the founding of the winery in 1991. The 2015 vintage marks the 25th release from this unique location, which spans the Sonoma/Napa County line.

Situated at 2100-foot elevation, Pride Mountain Vineyards is above the fog line, which provides three unique benefits: first, the vines are exposed to sunshine and warmth from the moment the sun rises; second, they are exposed to significantly more ultraviolet light, which causes the berries to develop thicker skins with concentrated flavors; and finally, ripening occurs slowly and consistently as the result of minimal daytime heat spikes and mild nighttime cooling.

Always one of Pride Mountain Vineyards' shyest yielding vineyard blocks, in 2015 these six acres of the "County Line" vineyard block yielded a mere 2.09 tons of fruit. The small crop and excellent vintage growing conditions resulted in a wildly intense, concentrated and unctuous wine.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, hand-selected for the Sonoma County Barrel Auction, presents notes of ripe black cherries, blueberries, brown spice and dark chocolate. With a supple body and an extended finish, this wine will age flawlessly for decades, the hallmark of mountain viticulture.
